To ensure the bakhoor burns properly, the bamboo stick does need to catch fire when lighting. We have tested a variety of alternatives, but this method provides the most consistent and high-quality burn. The black smoke you will notice at the start is only temporary during the initial lighting phase. After around 15–20 seconds, this clears up into a silver, cleaner, lighter fragrance smoke.
